As a person who has experienced homeless, I’m creating awareness about homelessness as a self-published author. I authored three books to let the world know that homeless people lives matter. So many times, kids and young folks turned out to be my most compassionate and empathetic customers, when I am outside selling my books on the street corner. When thousands of adults walk by and ignore me, while I am trying to get their attention, I have seen little and young angels show more interest and convince their parents to buy my books. That indicated to me that kids are not insensitive to homelessness. They care but do not fully understand that problem, maybe because they and their parents never experienced it.
I have shared so many of my personal stories about my experience with homelessness in my previous books, but because some of the stories in them were a bit too traumatic, I came up with the idea of writing this book, Homeless People Are Human Being Too so that I can still share many of my personal stories about my experience with homelessness that a young audience can rid without being disturbed by some of the traumatic experiences I shared in my other books. This is a book that an entire family from the 8 year old to the teenager and the parents can enjoy reading. I believe that the culture of empathy for the homeless must be instilled in young people so that they can be the future generations that might come up with the solution to end homelessness.
